Police are investigating after someone opened fire inside a downtown nightclub early Friday.

The gunfire erupted inside the X-S nightclub (formerly Republik) at 261 Richmond St. West, near John.

Shots were fired inside around 1:30am, according to witnesses.

Four men, including the shooter, took off in a black Lexus and another four fled in a separate vehicle.

No one was hurt during the incident.  The club is equipped with a large full body metal detector at the entrance.  Not sure how someone would be able to bring a gun passed a system like that.  No word yet if the club will be open for business this weekend.  We’ll update this report if we hear anything today.

If you have any information call Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
