Police have identified the man shot outside Club Seventy Seven on King William Street Friday morning as Vincenzo Lofaro, 46, of Hamilton. Lofaro, an employee of the club, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting on the street at 3:20 a.m., said Acting Det. Sgt. Dave Oleniuk, who released Lofaro’s name. There are unconfirmed reports a woman was taken to hospital. But Oleniuk would only say a woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. It was the city’s 10th homicide of 2016. Lofaro was coming out of the club, where he worked security, at the time of the shooting, Oleniuk said. Oleniuk said police don’t know at this point if the incident is related to the club, which was closed by the time it happened. At the scene, a witness said he heard at least six or seven shots but did not see anything. Police closed both King William and Rebecca streets from John to Catharine streets for the investigation. A tent was erected on the road outside Club Seventy Seven to cover the body of the victim. Club Seventy Seven hosted hip hop artist N.O.R.E. (a.k.a.Noreaga) for a concert Thursday night. Sources have told Torontonightclub.com that the event was moved there last minute from another club that had been closed recently and the event needed a last minute change of location.
