Popular nightclub the Hoxton has announced it will be closing its doors at the end of January.

“Embrace and the Social Group announced today that after six great years, the Hoxton will be closing its doors at the end of the month,”  “We would like to thank all the DJs & bands that have played at the Hoxton, our staff and of course the fans who came out and supported our events. We are excited for what this final month will bring and hope to see you all at the Hoxton one last time!”

Embrace and venue co-owner Richard Lambert (the Social Group) opted not to renew their five-year lease on the club space at the corner of King and Bathurst streets.  The developer that owns the building has plans to eventually redevelop the site.

“When you can’t do anything with the space – you can’t renovate, you can’t spend money – then you can’t build a future,” Lambert said. “If you’re not going to be there for more than a year or two, it’s just not worth it.”
