The BPM Festival will reportedly not be held in Playa del Carmen again, following the tragic shootings at the event’s Elrow closing party at the Blue Parrot nightclub in the early hours of Monday Jan 16th.

Mexican news source La Jornada Maya reports that local Solidaridad City Council met today, and at a press conference following the meeting announced that no more The BPM Festival events will take place in Playa del Carmen.

The meeting is said to have consisted of Solidaridad municipal president Cristina Torres Gómez, and the Business Coordinating Council of the Riviera Maya who agreed events like the shootings at The BPM Festival drives away investment from entrepreneurs.

The BPM Festival will have events this year in Brazil and Portugal in September.  Perhaps these will be permanent locations now.  No word yet on the future of the festival.
